The OSMA CME Planning Committee presents the following CME  activities that address This certificate program is designed to prepare healthcare professionals resilient innovative strategic ways to navigate challenges faced today. This online coursework delivers specific healthcare administration focus and application to professionals who intend to expand their business and leadership competencies in the management of healthcare. It is the intent of the OSMA CME Planning Committee to keep all physicians informed and updated on all all issues regarding healthcare and provide CME Credit when expanding their knowledge on healthcare leadership for the Master Certificate Program requirements.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After attending the activity the physician should be able to:

  • Effective leadership and Communication and facilitate the development of interpersonal and team skills; and

  • Focus on integrated behavioral competencies demanded in organizations today to include: self-awareness, communication, negotiation, collaboration, and relationship building; and

  • Participants will work through individual leadership profile assessments, evaluate effective leadership behaviors, and explore techniques and processes to communicate and negotiate effectively within organizations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

  • Best practices related to setting up and managing healthcare organizations, which include managerial and operational concepts related to strategic planning; quality improvement; organizational strategy and design; individual, interpersonal, and team/group management; along with employment and human resource management topics such as selection, staffing retention, discipline, motivation, productivity, and team building.

After attending the activity the physician should be able to:

  • Understand fundamental marketing principles and strategies that are relevant in healthcare; and

  • Understand relationships between marketing, operations, innovation, and strategy in healthcare operations; and

  • Know how the patient experience is impacted; and

  • Analyze and discuss examples of marketing in healthcare, marketing strategies and recommend implantation plans and develop a marketing plan for an organization and be able to effectively communicate marketing related to concepts and strategies.

 

"Healthcare Financial Strategies and Decision MakingFIN633" presented by Andrew Gin, MD

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After attending the activity the physician should be able to:

  • Financial information in health care settings, including differnences between for-profit and not for profit entities; and

  • Decision making in health care settings, including creation and use of decision trees and tables; and

  • Cost calculations and underlying concepts of cost allocation in accounting; and

  • Cost-volume-profit calculations, analysis and underlying concepts in pricing, collections; and

  • Perform basic financial calculations in reference to health care utilization, and statistics as NPV; and

  • Creating basic Balance Sheets, Income Statements, direct and indirect Cash Flow Statements, and demonstrate their interrelationships in relationship to healthcare; and

  • Knowledge about future trends in health care and finance;and

  • Recent decision making concepts and tools, including basic mathematical and statistical concepts related to decision making.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

After attending the activity the physician should be able to:

  • Understand the laws and regulations applicable to the healthcare industry; and

  • Identify legal issues in order to minimize exposure to liability; and

  • Operate their healthcare businesses in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Accreditation Statement

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Accreditation Requirements and Policies of the Oklahoma State Medical Association through the joint providership of Oklahoma State Medical Association(OSMA) and Oklahomqa City University (OCU) .The Oklahoma State Medical Association (OSMA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The OSMA designates this live activity for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

To officially receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and a CME certificate of participation, the attendee must complete the online evaluations for each presentation attended.
